ARBORDECK HELPS PUT
SAFETY FIRST AT MANSFIELD NURSERY
The roofline doorway of the two-storey nursery
now leads to a 3m x 4m deck on timber support legs,
which provides a safer assembly point and helps
ease emergency procedures for the young children.
With a grooved board finish, the 4m high deck was
specially designed by Mansfield deck-building company
and Timber Decking Association member Distinctive
Landscapes. High balustrading at 1100mm was fitted
in line with TDA guidelines for decks over 2m and
is finished with a contemporary handrail.
Leading to 19 steps at 6" intervals, the decked
fire escape structure features a halfway landing
for smoother descent and is installed with safety
gates at both top and bottom.
Nurseries and schools are increasingly acknowledging
the benefits of timber decking to solve landscaping
challenges as it can be installed with minimum
site disruption, is cost-effective and allows the
best use of outdoor space on sloping sites. The
material’s visual, textural and environmental
qualities, together with its suitability for ramps
and wheelchair access, also help account for its
increasing popularity within the education sector.
Arbordeck™ hold the Deck Mark™ , a
quality assurance award from the Timber Decking
Association (TDA), along with a 15-year performance
guarantee. Boards are Tanalith® E treated for
long-term protection against fungal and insect
attack. A wide selection of board options is available,
together with a comprehensive range of ancillary
products such as joists, spindles, handrails and
fittings.
