ACCESS ALL AREAS THROUGH
DECKING SOLUTION
Leading timber-decking range Arbordeck™ was
specified for the construction of a user-friendly
decking
area and access ramp at The Plough Inn in Caunton,
Newark.
Dating back to the late sixteenth century, the
pub now boasts an 8m x 8m
decked dining area specially designed by the Mansfield
deck-building
company and Timber Decking Association member Distinctive
Landscapes.
The decking, with its grooved board finish, contemporary
handrails and
chamfered spindles, creates a pleasant and spacious
eating area for all
customers including those with disabilities or
mobility challenges.
The timber decking solution has skilfully converted
a sloping lawned area into a welcoming and accessible
facility that will help increase weekend and evening
business. Arbordeck™ materials were also
used to
construct an access ramp to eliminate steep steps
leading from the car
park to the pub entrance and gardens, providing
a more inclusive
environment for wheelchair-users.
Decking is cost-effective and can be used for awkward
and uneven sites,
whilst complementing the surrounding landscape.
The material's flexibility makes it easy to install
with minimal site disruption. Its suitability for
ramp and wheelchair access combined with its visual,
textural and environmental qualities also account
for its
rising popularity within the leisure sector.
