SMOKING BAN PREDICTED TO LIGHT UP DECKING MARKET

Following the ban on public smoking that was introduced in Scotland back in March 2006, sales of timber decking have increased dramatically as hundreds of business across the country rushed to provide suitable outdoor facilities for smokers. With a similar ban due to be implemented throughout the UK in July 2007, leading timber-decking manufacturer Arbordeck™ is gearing up to meet what is anticipated to be an unprecedented level of customer demand.

Although the new laws will see smoking in all indoor places banned, the hospitality industry will be most affected by the regulations and so the need for pubs, clubs, restaurants and even private members’ clubs to provide adequate outdoor smoking areas will be vital.

Both effective and attractive, timber-decking provides the ideal solution and Arbordeck™ products have already been successfully used on a number of pubs and restaurants across the country. As most businesses will have to adapt existing premised, decking is extremely cost-effective and flexibility, allowing easy installation with minimal site disruption. It is also ideally suited to awkward and uneven sites and can help to transform previously unusable areas whilst complementing the surrounding landscape.

Providing complete peace of mind, Arbordeck™ holds the Deck Mark™, a quality assurance award from the Timber Decking Association (TDA), along with a 15-year performance guarantee. Boards are Tanalith E treated for long-term protection against fungal and insect attack. A wide selection of boards is available, together with a comprehensive range of ancillary products such as joists, spindles, handrails and fittings.
