Timber preservation
All softwood species classified as semi or non-durable should be industrially pre-treated with a preservative to increase the products life. Timbers that will come in contact with the ground or water should be treated in accordance with Hazard Class 4 to ensure that they provide a long-life in wet conditions. All other components not in ground contact should be treated in accordance with Hazard Class 3.
Any timbers cut on site should be treated with an end grain preservative to protect the cut ends. Arbordeck recommends Osmose Endcoat Wood Preservative, which can be found in decking extras.
When buying timber decking you should look for the Make Sure It’s 4 logo which raises awareness about the protection necessary for wood and the DeckMark logo which is your proof that the product has been assessed by the Timber Decking Association and meets their demanding quality standards.
Arbordeck components are manufactured from pressure treated timber that has been impregnated with Naturewood, a unique, environmentally advanced and proven timber preservative from Osmose, a global leader in timber treatments. The treatment provides a long-term protection against termite and fungal decay whilst meeting the demanding requirements of Use Class 4 Standard for in-ground or direct soil contact and Class 3 for out-of-ground applications.
